One can never accuse a border terrier
of lacking brains.
Some years ago we took our dogs to a
terriershow at a local hunt kennels. For anyone who has never shown
at one of these events I would strongly recommend you try it. A lot
of fun for all concerned.
On this particular occasion the day started
fine and the show got under way. As the day wore on the sun got higher
and the temperature rose accordingly. By mid afternoon it became apparent
that the heat was getting too much for the dogs.
We decided to take refuge back at the
car, and found a suitablely cool and shady spot to hitch the dogs.
To our amazement, 'Pepper' had her own
method of cooling down.......or was it pure chance that she adopted
the position shown in the photograph.

A water bowl is essential when visiting
dog shows, but normally one drinks out of it.
Footnote: Check the weather forecast
before taking your dogs to an outdoor event. Heat can kill dogs. And
NEVER leave a dog in a car on a sunny
day, even if the windows are open
